ALEX WOMEN HEALTH PROJECT

WIA in partnership with the Cancer Association of South Africa, Breast Cancer Foundation and the Health Department will be hosting a Health Project targeting women from Alexandra Community.

There will be counsellors from few other organizations dealing with cancer to offer to the community knowledge about the matter and above all to teach on prevention and early detection.

This initiative is not restricted to the members of our UCKG’s in Alexandra but it is our target to cover the whole location. Mobile units from the government will be brought to the parking lot of our Alex 1 church so that medical exams of preventive nature be conducted there.

Knowledge is power therefore once again WiA members have attended to a 2 day seminar in preparation and knowledge on the matter to be better equipped to offer counselling to all those who look for us on the 4, 5 and 6 of February – from 8am to 5pm.

This new team of Cancer supporters will be also available at the Johannesburg Gen – oncology ward – to offer support to those undergoing treatment. And we take the opportunity to thank Bev Du Toit and her team, from CANSA and Luise Turner and her team, from BHF for the attention and care extended to our WIA during the workshop hours.

We count on you – Women from Alexandra – to invite your friends, neighbours and relatives to join us in this Health Project – prevention and early detection are the best treatments.
