Pre Sisterhood in Gauteng

Young sisters of tomorrow

In the last week of January the Pre Sisterhood in South Africa took pledges from Sunday school girls, aged between six and 13 years, with particular attention to those from 11 upwards, who aspire to join the Sisterhood one day. It was a special day for the young girls in Johannesburg and Cape Town who have spent the past month completing tasks. In the two provinces, Big Sisters, welcomed all guests and children to celebrate their pledges to the Pre Sisterhood. Their message was: “Today you are becoming baby sisters because of the tasks you have done. You are going to receive your hair clips and certificates and promise something special to God … that you will follow Jesus and love God with all your heart. You are going to live your life to please God and that makes you special. More tasks are coming for you, to groom you to become stronger and more beautiful to God.”Big Sister, Marcia Pires, led the opening prayer after which guests were shown video clips of how the little girls had shown their joy and commitment in carrying out their tasks. The “baby sisters” from Johannesburg also enacted a drama based on the life of Ruth. But Ruth replied, “Don’t urge me to leave you or to turn back from you. Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD deal with me, be it ever so severely, if even death separates you and me.” When Naomi realized that Ruth was determined to go with her, she stopped urging her.” (Ruth 1:16-18)The story shows that Ruth was pledged to Naomi because she followed in her footsteps. In the same way we hope to raise many more Ruths in our Sunday School. The little girls pledged to walk in the ways of God.The “baby sisters” took the following pledge: “ I as a baby sister agree to please God in everything I do. * To be obedient at home, at school, at the church and everywhere I go. *To honour my parents, siblings and adults. * To listen to my Pre-Big sisters. * To be honest and always tell the truth. *To be an example and behave like the young lady I want to be.”After taking the pledge the Pre-Big Sisters presented hair clips and certificates to the “baby sisters”.

This growth is really grooming the little girls to be the great future women of God, theres a saying in Zulu (IGOTSHWA ISEMANZI) meaning discipline while young. Pre sisterhood is making that and indeed this little girls are learning to respect, fear God and yes to be responsible in caring for themselves. Big up Pre-sisterhood

This is lovely and the beginning of a great journey for these girls. It's beautiful that they are following in the footsteps of Jesus at a young age.

THis is a great opportunity for these young girlies to learn and grow in many ways! Also the devil will find it real tough to destract this new set of soldiers because they will have all the tools in the world to counteract his schemes as they enter into teenagehood - the make it or break it phase of their lives. But with PRe- sisterhood and Sisterhood, they will be solid in God for life!

Hello Mrs Marcia, I am a sunday school teacher and since the begging of pre sister, all those who are baby sister have shown us good testimonies, before been in sisterhood some of the children had low self estem you couldnt see them participating in the class, the would just sit at the back and be quiet, but now the are the ones who set an example to how a child of God should do, M very please with all the kids who are in pre-sister. These children are going to be woman of God. They really have the willness in their hearts. I remember when we use to ask them if one day the want to serve God, only few could lift up their hands but then we did not understand why, but today you ask them almost all of them want to pastors, pastor'swife, assistant. I like the work of pre-sisterhood it has really made a difference in our bible school.
